Presenting exhibits that are engaging for both the child and the adult

So this is something that I think a lot of children's museums struggle with: how to create exhibits and panels that interest both the kids and their adults?  After all, we want the adults to be experiencing the museum with their kids, but how do we do this?See More

Bringing contemporary issues like childhood obesity, racism, adoption/foster care to children's museums.

I posted this discussion in the Children's Museums group, but would love to hear from others. The New York Times came out with an article last month about the trend in children's museums to use their exhibits and programs to address contemporary social and health issues like racism and childhood obesity.  I have the article below, and would love to hear some opinions about this.  Should children's museums go into this arena or stay in the realm of informal learning?  Thanks!…See More

Dear Jessica,

Thanks for the request, and I am happy to discuss these matters. I must warn you, however, that Term is just starting here so I may not be all that punctual in my replies over the next few weeks. I will do my best, though.
