Dear Cara,
I feel a bit guilty that I haven't yet posted anything on the RDO project, but I will.

This is a problem. It is not that community members are not interested, but there are two problems (at least). First, I have been told by many community members that they already have numberous demands on their time, and are often overburdened with requests for collaboration, and they must balance these demands. In this process, we must be honest, museums on the other side of the world may not rank very high. Second, I think that we, as musem professionals, underestimate just how much ill feeling and suspicion remains within Source Communities towards museums. Frankly, I understand these feelings. We have a long way to go before we can say that we are offering a symmetric relationship with source communities.

Anyway, you might find some papers that we just published interesting. Also, I will have a word with Laura when she is here next week about some more discussions, which I would welcome with the Pitt Rivers Museum.

Helloo there,

Read your comment on the doctoral studies page. Your project sounds darn interesting. I am hoping to do some ethnography on reception of digital access/repatriation in SIerra Leone, plus maybe the relationships between the various bodies involved. I would love to get some new repatriation reading off you. But maybe we can discuss when when I some to Oxford?

Are you free any time next week? Ill get in touch with Laura

Hey Cara,

I'm writing my major research paper this year on digital access to aboriginal/ indigenous collections in Canada and how museums are dealing with traditional knowledge etc. I think I have the basic readings and texts down pat, but is there anything I could be missing? Do you have any secret amazing readings I should be reading? Or projects I should know about?

Thought I would pick your brain.

Congrats on the little one by the way!
