Museum 3

what will the museum of the future be like?

About

Museum3 is a not for profit organisation dedicated to exploring the future of the cultural institution sector.

Since it began in 2007 as a social network, Museum3 has grown to almost 3000 members from across the world. In 2010 Museum3 incorporated into a not-for-profit organisation. This has allowed us to plan for extended services including conferences, masterclasses, public talks, new partnerships and new cultural products including podcasts and vodcasts.

In 2011 we will be running our Transformations in Cultural Communication Conference in Melbourne, Australia. This conference brings together leading professionals and researchers to explore the next wave of social media in cultural organisations.

If you would like to contribute to Museum3, please sign up and start writing!

The objects for which the Company is established are:

(a)            Develop and maintain an engaged, creative and connected community of global cultural institution professionals and advocates; encouraging innovation through knowledge creation, exchange, networking, research, design development and outreach activities.

(b)           Provide an environment that promotes the evolutionary development of the cultural institution sector fostering the exchange of innovative online and onsite practices in a critical and supportive space.

(c)            Develop positive perceptions by members, visitors and the broader community about the cultural sector’s role in inspirational and sustainable programs of communication, both onsite and online.

(d)           Enhance and effectively share knowledge, ideas, skills and innovations about the cultural institution sector (libraries, museums, galleries, archives and broadcasters) by promoting movable cultural heritage.

(e)            Provide advocacy and support to the cultural institution sector to develop and maintain partnerships with media, business, government and other cultural services organizations to facilitate cross-fertilisation of ideas, information exchange and joint projects to the benefit of heritage collections and places.

And to do all acts and things as may be deemed necessary or incidental to the achievement of similar objectives.
