Museum 3

what will the museum of the future be like?

The other day I stumbled upon xtranormal.com, an online service that uses text to speech and linked auto animation to create videos that can be downloaded at 640x480. I found that by playing around with text and pauses it was possible to make it quite understandable.

Does anyone think this is good enough for a digital docent type video?

Sure, I've given it a try and it's simple enough but becomes time consuming when you get really fussy. I'm a video producer with a 3d animation background tho. I reckon that it could be used as part of an audience enagagement strategy. Where a museum designs some cips in xtranormal to kick things off and then get the kids to build thier own endings. Or even collect them and allow people to mash-up from everyone's contributions. You could then upload them to something like adbubbler.com and make a multipath narrative swf.
