Museum 3

what will the museum of the future be like?

I've just become familiar with the notion of 'transition towns' - which is a movement that is bringing about meaningful change at the grass-roots level within communities.  It is driven primarily by an awareness of the growing problems associated with climate change, ballooning populations, continued reliance on fossil fuels and the general problem of human unsustainability if there is not a transformation in how we live our lives.  To me, this is fundamentally a cultural issue, and I am looking for museums that are positioning themselves to play a useful role in the transformation of communities.  If you know of any, I would love to hear from you.  If you want to look more closely at the movement, have a look at the Transition Network site a href="http://www.transitionnetwork.org>">www.transitionnetwork.org>;.

Thanks.

Hi there!  Check out both The Field Museum in Chicago, and the Chicago Cultural Alliance.  They are both working toward positive social change in Chicago through museum work.
