Museum 3

what will the museum of the future be like?

Tip of the Hat to Lynda K. and Everyone Here!

I am just thrilled...THRILLED that your very own Lynda Kelly has agreed to post to the recently launched blog for the Western Museums Association in the U.S. The name of the blog is westmuse. Give us a visit and leave a comment.

We've invited Lynda to come in and share some about how and why she got to where she is with professional communications on-line, all this peer-to-peer, bloggy and ning-y stuff.

First installment:

In our world you're a star, Lynda.

Oh, and to top it all off the first respondent was Nancy Proctor, a major domo in the museum world, a big wig at the Smithsonian, generator of http://museummobile.info/ and an all around museum geek's best respondent to just about anything on-line.

If you visit, comment please. Comments are like hand-made gifts, they don't cost you much but the impact invaluable to the recipient.

And, so it looks like Lynda's going to do us an even better turn by making her selections into a serial like on the television, so stay tuned! And thanks, Linda.

Thanks for posting the links here - I will take a look when I have finished my latest essay stress project!

I lived in Perth for a while and from my experiences in finding Perth Museums this resource will be absolutely invaluable! Well done!

I would also like to thank Lynda for all her help and her seemingly endless energy, Lynda you're a star!
and now more comments - including from your own Angelina Russo!

and one of the more wonderful things I have learned from this space is the kind attention Lynda and Angelina give each post and ensuing comment stream - cajoling, encouraging and sustaining. seeing how well they do it, has been very helpful in helping to launch the Western Museums Association's westmuse.

Amelia, thanks for taking the time out to share your experiences.
OMG I'll NEVER live up to that intro, but will try very hard to make a useful contribution to show my gratitude for all y'all are doing! Thanks so much!
Umm, for what it's worth here's the next installment of my saga - sorry to be so self-indulgent!
last post drew 13 comments! keep 'em comin', Lynda!

Here's my final post with lessons learned from my online adventures. Be interested in what others think.

Thnx James for giving me this opportunity...

And loved the serialization...nice trick. a bit like Dickens, right?

O.K. in the western United States there used to be a regional museum professionals association called the Western Museums Association or the WMA.

The WMA recently launched a blog called westmuse to address some of the issues that are rolling around about conferences, carbon based convening, etc...

More recently, and some how "by invitation," this little blog has been taken over by none other than Museum 3.0...and the Western Museums Association is considering changing its name to "Museum 3.0: the Western Museum Association." If world domination be your game here, it seems to be working.

Yet another post from Angelina and Lynda, "The Team Down Under!" This time the theme's "authenticity."

Angelina's post is in response to an earlier post by a member of the WMA. To read Angelina's post click here.
Hi James
Thanks for this posting. WestMuse has some really fascinating discussions! I look forward to reading more! Good luck with it all and I look forward to hearing more about the conference!
Cheers
