what will the museum of the future be like?
I am interested in making a virtual museum with models rendered in a 3D software combined with 3D video goggles capable of sensing head movement. The idea is to have a seat or virtual wheel chair with a joystick to move forward into a virtual world. Hope you want to share your experience with me :)

The 3D googles are probably going to be the trickiest part.
Maybe consider using a Microsft Kinect and a 3D software such as Maya or Cinema 4D?

I know exactly what tech you might be able to use. Do you have any more detail on the aims / scope of the project?
Just for quick reference, the best 'goggles' to use, are VUZIX. I have a contact with their US office who was going to give us a BIG discount on their STAR1200 product ($$$)
