what will the museum of the future be like?

First day of CECA today. Opening reception at the National Museum of Iceland. Liked their approach to interpretation - text panels in main exhibitions all bilingual (Icelandic/English) but without the text being overwhelming. Text itself was 'newspaper style', i.e. a lead paragraph summarising the main points in each section, followed by a couple of paragraphs of more 'fleshed out' text with further details, so if you're not much of a reader you can just read the beginning without losing out on any crucial info. Also had a very interesting temporary photography exhibition, 'Unknown Moments' exhibiting images from six photographers in their photographic collection. Visitors where encouraged to contribute any info they had about the photos, e.g. where it was taken or who the people depicted where, so each photo was displayed with a card for visitors to write on.

I wonder about the Spanish speaking presentations. Besides Daniel Castro, the others had translations? I ask because you didn' comment any of them...

Dear Adriana -

I did not comment on all of the presentations, but I was not intentionally missing out the Spanish ones (I also missed out some non Spanish ones). I did concentrate more on presentations that stood out for me or that had a strong message for me, and after the first day there was no Spanish translators so the Spanish papers just had someone reading it out in English which made them more difficult to follow, esp. when they were being read out very fast (it's easier to concentrate on someone speaking naturally than on a text being read out in a more monotonous manner and at a fast speed).
