Museum 3

what will the museum of the future be like?

Finding Common Ground between the web and the museum

From the CAN Outreach blog: "Finding common ground between the visceral and the virtual is the next challenge for cultural institutions as they work hard to engage new audiences and meet the needs of existing ones. As curators, public program developers and web teams collaborate on innovative projects, institutions are finding themselves participating with communities in a way they never have before."

What a fantastic initiative - best of luck and I can get there I will.

Oh it is going to be awesome . . . . the test run was amazing. Big projections . . . .

See over here - http://www.powerhousemuseum.com/imageservices/?p=2055

And free stuff too!
Great and best of luck. One tiny piece of feedback - having this event on a Saturday nite in the middle of a long weekend is not the best time...
Wish I could join in, sadly I will be out of town. Best of luck!
Sounds incredible! Look forward to seeing the results!
It isn't a long weekend in every other part of the world!

Remember this is a synchronous GLOBAL event . . . . a globally crowd curated event in multiple global locations including one in a ruined church in Sweden! (which definitely trumps Powerhouse!)

And there will be demos of some really awesome new things being made with this content including an Augmented Reality iPhone (and other phones) application!
Yeah that's true, but it is in Sydney which means I can't go :-( Are there other ways to partcipate remotely apart from looking at Flickr??
#commonground hashtag.

But in reality this is a physical meetup for Flickr people - and we are pushing the physical-ness of it.

There's even going to be cupcakes with the photos on them in the icing! And other surprises.
